Tabiano is a family-run farm which grows grain and Chianti Colli Senesi grapes, raises sheep for their milk, ricotta, and cheese, and produces olive oil (particularly rich because the olives are harvested by hand and cold-pressed to preserve their natural qualities unaltered). All of these are organic products certified by the AIAB which you can sample as guests on the farm. The welcome you receive here is simple and family-style, with hospitality offered in an ancient stone farmhouse on the farm’s 300-hectare (750-acre) property, in the middle of Tabiano’s olive groves. As a matter of fact, Mezzapiaggia, as the farmhouse is called, looks out over 10 hectares of olive trees and the hillsides of Chianti. It has been recently restored and remodelled to create 4 apartments, in which the original building materials—stone, terracotta bricks, wooden beams—have been carefully recuperated and preserved. Another guest house has been made out of an old barn, closer to the center of the farm, in a panoramic position overlooking a lovely valley on one side and the charming village of Basciano on the other. Tabiano offers you the peace and quiet of the countryside, yet the advantage of being only 5 km. from beautiful Siena and 5 km. from the highway that allows you to reach Florence in 50 minutes and countless other places of historical, artistic, and natural interest in even shorter time (San Gimignano, Volterra, Montalcino…). Upon request there is the option of being accompanied by an English or German-speaking guide on an individual or group art and history tour. And if your children are not fond of sightseeing, they can remain on the farm under the care of a babysitter. But aside from trips off the farm, it will be pleasant just to stay in the country cooling off in the pool, playing ping-pong, attending one of the cooking or ceramics courses that are organized upon request,or discovering the surrounding area with the bicycles rented on the premises.

Coming from the North, take the A1 highway and exit at Firenze Certosa. From there, take the Firenze-Siena minor highway and exit at Siena-Nord, to then take the SS2 Cassia Nord on your right in the direction of Monteriggioni. Follow the arrows on your right for Uopini.Came into the little village and turn on the right in Carpella street; from there you will find our signs. Coming from the South, take the A1 highway and exit at Valdichiana-Siena. Take the Bettole-Siena minor highway and then the ?tangenziale ovest? (beltway west around Siena) in the direction of Firenze and exit at Siena Nord. From there follow the directions as above.

Primavera This is a single-floor apartment with an independent entrance. The first room is a bright sitting room with a kitchenette and fireplace. Then one enters a lovely bedroom, with double bed and Tuscan furniture in the “Liberty” style, whose window looks out onto the garden. There’s a bit of garden in the finely decorated bathroom, too.

Elicriso This apartment is on the second floor, at the top of an indoor staircase of Travertine stone. It’s made up of a sunny kitchen with two windows opening onto the surrounding countryside, while from the bathroom and one of the two double bedrooms you can enjoy the greenery of the olive grove.

Zefiro This apartment shares its front entrance with Elicriso. It’s on the ground floor, and opens onto a spacious room that doubles as kitchen and sitting room, on the garden side of the house. From there one enters the bathroom and the double bedroom, where there is the option of adding a third single bed.

Estate On the ground floor, with an independent entrance and the kind of spacious living room, with kitchenette and fireplace, which makes you want to enjoy a good dinner with lots of friends. Then there is the bathroom and two bedrooms, one double and one with a French bed. The ceiling of the apartment is vaulted with terracotta bricks, as one often finds in the Tuscan countryside. A lovely piece of masonry work which nowadays is highly appreciated, and long ago could even be--as in this case--the ceiling of a stable!

La capannina A splendid two-storey apartment of 80 square meters, made from an old barn of the kind used to store hay. A single private entrance, given that the building stands by itself; with a garden that opens onto the landscape of your dreams. The privacy you enjoy here comes at the cost of being a bit further removed from the farm’s recreational activities, though these are still only 10 minutes away. It is, however, closer to the agricultural center of the farm (only 300 meters) which you can visit to see the sheep, lambs, chickens (they lay fine eggs), and all the farm animals. On the ground floor, aside from the bathroom, there’s one large, open room with kitchenette and fireplace; at the top of the stairs one finds the two double bedrooms and the upstairs bathroom.
