CASTELLO DI MONTEGONZI

These were the first homes that gave the  origin to present town of Greve in Chianti.  Montegonzi was born around a fortified Castle fortified which already existed in 1100, for its dominating  position , had strategic importance on the  communication line between Florence and Siena.  In 1629, the Castle partially was destroyed from the Siennese ghibellini fighting against the Florentine guelfi. 

In the course of the restoration, special caution was taken to recreate the original typology of the building using only the existing stones and the floors are in part still original.  Also the outside decorations were reproduced as possible to the past using always and only stones recovered from the old small fortress. 

The Castle of Montegonzi, offers varied typologies of apartments, all with private open space and a charming view on the Tuscany countryside. 

Every apartment is decorated with taster and supplied all the necessary comforts.  The Castle of Montegonzi will make you seem to be on the roof of the world.  This is the land of the dreams in which the  360° view on the neighbouring nature makes you forget the daily stress.
