The “Villa Olena” holiday house is an old farmhouse whose origins date back to the 15th century. It was the first house built in the village of
Cascia along the road that goes from
Valdarno up toward
Reggello, just a short distance from the thousand-year-old parish church of San Pietro.
Careful restoration has brought out the original structure of the old residence, creating seven comfortable apartments (each with its own characteristic name) where fascination for the past blends with modern conveniences.
Each unit has a spacious kitchenette with fridge, stove and dishwasher, as well as satellite TV and heating in the winter months.
The surrounding landscape, dominated by the
Pratomagno mountains and hills covered with olive groves, reaches right through the windows of the house as if it were a painting.
In the large garden there is an attractive and inviting
swimming pool as well as a regulation-sized
tennis court. The owners of Villa Olena can also contact nearby riding stables to arrange from excursions on horseback or riding lessons.
From Villa Olena you can easily reach the most beautiful Tuscan cities of art, such as
Florence,
Arezzo,
Siena,
San Gimignano and other places of interest in the Reggello area like
Vallombrosa and Romanesque parishes. Villa Olena offers all its guests a visit to the Masaccio museum at the San Pietro parish in Cascia where you can admire the “Madonna di San Giovenale” by Masaccio, the great 15th century Florentine painter.
For those who love shopping, numerous
Outlets for some of the best known Italian and foreign designers are nearby.
