The residence "Podere Moricci" is set in the heart of splendid countryside just above the characteristic town of Montaione, which dates back to 1257. Eight spacious flats have been created within this typical seventeenth century Tuscan farmhouse, maintaining and enhancing the arches and the vaulted and open-beam ceilings. This building formed part of the estate of the poet Vincenzo da Filicaja, who is buried in Santa Croce amidst the tombs of great Italians, and from whom the present owners are descended. Each flat is named after male and female members of the ancient dynasty. The flats have all been comfortably furnished and equipped with central heating, satellite TV, a dishwasher and a safe. On the large lawn in front of the house, are two swimming-pools connected by another smaller one for children, with tables and chairs for each apartment and a barbecue for dining outdoors. Close to the town is the Hermitage of San Vivaldo on Via Francigena with the Holy Mount or the Jerusalem of Tuscany; this group of chapels and temples is adorned with terracottas and paintigs of the Della Robbia school. There is a fine 18 hole golf course just 8 km away, and tennis courts and a riding stable 3 km from the property. The mediaeval town of San Gimignano is 12 km away, Certaldo, the birthplace of Boccaccio, 8 km, and the fine city of Volterra, famous for its Etruscan remains and its alabaster, 22 km away. At about 50 km are Florence, Siena, Pisa and the Maremma coastline and Arezzo at 120 km with the famous Piero della Francesca frescoes.
