Borgo Salvadonica stands on one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany, with marvellous panoramic landscapes and numerous villages of medieval origin. Let your gaze wander and all around you'll see the intense green of the surrounding countryside. The view of the splendid landscape framed by the typically Tuscan hills which you can enjoy from the Borgo is perfect, there'll be nothing to disturb you and you'll finally able to immerse yourself totally in the quiet and serenity of a holiday in the country, lulled by the gentle and calm surroundings.
The hill of Borgo Salvadonica
Borgo Salvadonica is situated on a hill 300 metres above sea level halfway between Florence and Siena, from which there is a magnificent view. Almost two-thirds of the entire area is covered by woodland where today you can still see pheasants, wild boar, hares and roebucks. However, one of the most characteristic elements of the landscape is provided by the rows of vines alternating with the olive groves.
The vineyards
All around the Borgo are 5 hectares of vineyard divided between San Giovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano and Merlot grapes and the pride of the Salvadonica farm. The excellent wine made from these is nothing but the result of the loving care bestowed on the vines throughout their growth and development. Picked and selected by hand, the grapes are made into wine using the latest technology during both the fermentation and bottling phases to ensure the integrity and preservation of the product.
The Olives
A newly planted olive grove covers 6 hectares of land situated around the estate. It's from these splendid trees that the extra virgin olive oil is made, the essential basic ingredient of renowned Tuscan cooking. The vocation of the land and the farming techniques are what make the oil from this part of Tuscany such good quality.
The Reception Area
The Reception area is where guests are welcomed in the cordial, helpful manner which has always distinguished the Baccetti family and it's where you'll always find someone ready to give you advice or information about the area and its treasures.
The Salvadonica wine-cellars
Borgo Salvadonica has a wine-cellar where all the various phases of production, bottling and ageing of the wine are performed. The patron, Piero Baccetti, will teach you to love his wine. The small cellar, dug out of the tuff, is well worth a visit.
The Courtyard of the Borgo
The facilities are surrounded by an attractive courtyard which was and is still a meeting-place for those visiting the Borgo. An extremely peaceful location in which to appreciate the colours, fragrances and images which you'll find yourselves immersed in almost as if by magic and where you can read, converse or simply enjoy the silence.
