Bordered by Chianti vineyard and olive groves, the farm houses of Podere Mezzastrada were once part of the Santa Maria Novella estate. The property is set in gently rolling hills, 400 metres above sea level overlooking the Elsa valley and, on a clear day, the towers of San Gimignano can be seen in the distance. Marcialla, about one mile away, has three restaurants and a pizzeria, while groceries can be obtained in Marcialla or nearby Fiano. From this idyllic rural base, many of the area’s historic sights are easily accessible for day visits, including Pisa, San Gimignano, Volterra and Lucca. Florence is 19 miles away and Siena 28 miles from here. These splendid 18th century villas have been sympathetically renovated, retaining their original character, and are furnished with flair. Facilities: telephone in every apartment, tv satellite, shared washing machine. The complex has its own swimming pool (open april – october). There is a tennis court in nearby Marcialla and horse riding is on offer within 10 minutes of the accomodation. There is also a golf course 25 minutes away.
