The "Portazza" takes its name from the old customs dating back to Roman times, a key step for the salt trade, given its proximity to the saline Marsala. In 1800 the land was bought by the noble family Montalto who built one of their summer homes, known as the beam (baglio), surrounded by vast grounds planted with vineyards and located in the picturesque scenery of the natural reserve of the Lagoon. The structure has remained unchanged until the recent restoration that has allowed a restory over the former building and at the same time, its transformation into a comfortable villa-holidays, with six bedrooms, including two quads, three doubles and one triple. The beam is now able to rely solely from renewable energy sources, through the installation of a complex system which includes solar panels, a cistern for collecting rainwater irrigation functionally the large garden, and a boiler Biomass uses organic and recycled for combustion. The villa is located in a strategic position, 2 km from the centre of the city of Marsala, the 'old Lilibeo, and a few kilometres along the coast where there are numerous seaside resorts but also long stretches of open beach and vegetation.
