SARDINIA-EASTERN COAST-SANTA MARIA NAVARRESE-HOLIDAY HOUSE. The town of Santa Maria Navarrese is located in Ogliastra, south of the Emerald Coast, between Dorgali and the port of Arbatax. Frequently when people speak of Sardinia they use adjectives such as “wild” and “uncontaminated”, which are appropriate for Ogliastra. Lying outside the usual circuit of mass tourism and in one of the less “invaded” parts of the island, Oglliastra is something a bit out of the ordinary. The coastline in the municipality of Baunei, which extends for 40 km between Santa Maria Navarrese and the Cala Luna beach, has unique characteristics: sandbars, inlets and enchanting coves. Cala Luna, Cala Goloritzè, Cala Mariolu and Cala Sisine are the most famous and can be reached only by boat or after long hikes on paths used by the charcoal makers of the past. This area is about to become part of the Gennargentu national park. The impressive white limestone cliffs over the crystalline sea is a symbol of this part of Sardinia and climbers, mountain bikers and hikers appreciate this landscape very much. Indeed the “Selvaggio Blu” trail is one of the most spectacular and challenging itineraries in the Meditteranean basin. In addition, you can go on horseback on the Golgo plain above Baunei.
The most important town in the area is Tortolì (population about 10,000), located 8 km from Santa Maria Navarrese. We rent three apartments year round: a large unit (8 beds) and two smaller ones (2/3 beds each).
The main beach in the town is just 400 m from the house. The apartments are comfortable and fully equipped: washing machine, dishes and utensils, iron and board, etc.
