Natural park of the Conero

Natural park of the Conero
The Conero is a 600-metre-high mountain, situated on top of a cliff right next to the water, like a guardian of the infinite coast it dominates, the Adriatic coast, between Trieste and Gargano. The natural park, established in 1987, is a magnificent area where respect and safeguard of the environment prevails, protecting 1/3 of the region’s plant species, and also having a great variety of animal life. In this Mediterranean bush area, made up of 600 hectares, there are numerous artistic and archaeological findings such as Numana with its necropolis and the Antiquarium, the beautiful church of Santa Maria a Portonuovo and the one of San Pietro al Conero, the Napoleonic fort, the medieval village of Simolo and many other interesting locations
