Sicily is the largest region of Italy and the largest island of the whole Mediterranean Sea. Right from antiquity Sicily was inhabited by Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans, thanks to the favorable climate and strategic location for trade. Due to the triangular shape, the ancients 's had called Trinacria, namely the' three-cornered island.
