Campania Farm holiday
FARMHOUSE CASERTA ITALY AVAILABLE FROM 15 SEPTEMBER 2005
The farm, located in the mid-Volturno district, covers an area of 50 hectares in the green hills of Caiazzo. We have large cultivated areas and panoramic woods where olives and grapes are the predominant crops and bees are raised; typical productions include PDO olive oil, “Pallagrello” wine, honey, fruit, and free-range sheep and chickens.
Here you will find an ideal spot for visiting the main attractions of the region of Campania while still being sufficiently isolated from the noise of modern life, and where you can appreciate the songs of birds in the repopulation oasis of the farm. You may see jays, magpies, blackbirds, finches, thrushes, pheasants or even wild boar. You can wander, by foot or on a mountain bike, along paths that lead to small villages, search for wild asparagus and chicory, and admire from on high the islands of the Gulf of Naples.
The old 18th-century farmhouse, carefully and knowledgeably renovated to maintain its original characteristics, accommodates guests and includes the restaurant while various sports and recreational activities can be enjoyed such as the swimming pool and solarium. Nearby historical sites abound. For example, in order to bring Capua out of idleness, Hannibal built a bridge across the Volturno and made a raid which unfortunately proved fatal in the narrow gorge of Caiazzo where he was soundly defeated. Naturalistic, artistic, monumental and environmental itineraries are also possible in the area including, less than one km, away the recently restored 11th-century gothic church of Santa Maria a Marciano with its Giotto school frescoes, the Reggia di Caserta, the Roman amphitheatre of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the museum at Capua, and the historic centre of Caiazzo. All within a radius of 12 km! Not to mention Naples, Pompei, and the islands.
We offer an opportunity to spend your days enjoying the rich traditions of the area with meals based on typical products from the farm, including “Caiazzane” olives, lamb that has grazed our meadows, homemade gnocchi and the typical “mazzamorra” made from bread, olive oil and beans, all prepared personally by the owner and her family. Why not awaken in the morning to the sound of a rooster, enjoy a good breakfast of farm-prepared bread, honey and jams while sitting in the shade of a mulberry tree, in contact with nature and wrapped in the scents from the medicinal herb garden and flowers? In addition, you can participate in practical botany courses to learn to recognize the various plants on the farm or in competitions to see who can find the most famous wild mountain asparagus.
Our double and triple rooms are spacious and comfortable with rustic style olive-wood furniture, private bathroom and intercom, providing excellent accommodations for various needs. They are alsoavailable minuums apartments with kitchen and services.
