COUNTRY HOUSE IN ABRUZZO - MAJELLA NATIONAL PARK - CARAMANICO SPA - RESTAURANT - PARKING - INTERNET POINT

Modus Vivendi is located in Abbateggio (400 m elevation), a charming hamlet with fewer than 500 inhabitants in the region of Abruzzo, in the Majella national park, and just a few kilometres from the Caramanico spa (35 km from Pescara, 15 km from the Roma/Pescara motorway exit).
Set between the oak trees on a panoramic hill nestled among the Abruzzese Appennines as they slope toward the sea, you’ll find Modus Vivendi, an old stone farmhouse. The beauty of the natural landscape of the Majella national park makes it possible to enjoy the spectacular views in any season of the year.
The house has recently been refurbished with an eye for the original construction and applying bioarchitecture concepts. Local artisans (stone cutters, woodworkers, blacksmiths) offered precious contributions to the finished product. The aim of the renovation was to favour water and energy conservation and to provide guests with modern comfort while still being “friends to the planet.
The comfortable and cosy units (4 double rooms and 2 apartments for four guests) are furnished with vintage or artisan-made pieces and complementary pieces to make you feel right at home, as well as extras (fireplaces, hydromassage showers, direct dial phones) .
As an annex, there is the eco-restaurant where you can enjoy Abruzzese cuisine based on our own or organic products (olive oil, spelt, fruit) and as the “natural shop” of the house you can purchase some of our own homemade products (jams, syrups, liqueurs) .
In addition, we have a conversation room with library, maxi-screen tv, Internet point, paths for walking in the surrounding woods, a botanical garden is under construction, and there’s plenty of parking.
The owners, who are environmentalists and art, nature and Abruzzese tradition lovers, manage the property and are available to offer additional services such as historical-naturalistic guided visits, encounters regarding phytotherapy and natural products, and environmental education activities for young people.
Periodically, “Modus” organizes workshops and theme evenings for guests of all ages involving activities related to handcrafts, popular music, traditional cooking, and identification of local flora and fauna.
“Modus” participates in a conservation project on agricultural biodiversity with an orchard of local apple varieties at risk of extinction, and whose names have been used to identify the lodgings. Informational materials are made available for guests for excursions on foot, horseback or bicycle to better appreciate the nearby areas of naturalistic, historical and archaeological interest (park museums, hermitages, shepherd’s huts).
